Our kids grow up so fast. In the blink of an eye, they are walking, talking, and becoming more independent than ever before. As our children grow and develop, there comes a time for many firsts, especially their first haircut at a real salon. As many of us parents know, taking kids to strange appointments can sometimes be quite tedious; Kids aren’t always willing to sit still and listen. So, if you are worried about bringing your child to their first hair appointment with a professional, here are some helpful tips to make sure everything goes smoothly.
Don’t Mess With Routine:
Routine is often key in a household, especially with young children. That being said, if you have a nap and feeding routine that your toddler likes to follow or needs to follow, stick to it. Plan your appointment around those nap times snack times to ensure decent behavior and attitude when they’re sitting still to get their hair trimmed.
Let Them Know:
With children, although it may seem like it goes right over their heads, it is always best to try and explain the situation to them. Let them know where they are going and what is going to happen, but of course, address it so that they have understanding for the most part. They may not understand it completely, but by letting them know ahead of time, there is a chance of less fear and better behavior.
